This traditional stone-built cottage is ideally located in the centre of the thriving village of Winster, in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. Enjoying countryside and village views, this Winster cottage is perfect for couples or families, with two lovely bedrooms featuring exposed apex ceiling and attractive exposed beams. Enter into the warmth of the Old Cottage after an action-packed day exploring the Peaks and be welcomed into the sitting room. Here, you will be delighted to find an attractive stone fireplace containing a woodburning stove taking centre stage, before the plush seating arrangement and TV. Step across the parquet flooring and into the elegant kitchen/diner, where you will find a range of quality appliances so that you can cater for yourselves for the duration of your stay. The ground floor is completed by a sleek shower room, boasting a walk-in shower, basin and WC. The character of the dwelling is continued upstairs, where the exposed beams frame the double bedroom and the twin bedroom boasts plush linens and good wardrobe storage. The conservation village of Winster has a well-stocked community-owned village shop and Post Office and two excellent pubs providing home-cooked food and traditional ales, while a lovely children's playground and the 17th century National Trust owned Market House are just a short walk away. Guests of the Old Cottage can easily access the nearby towns such as Bakewell and Matlock, as well as local attractions such as stunning Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the Crich Tramway Museum and Peak Railway. The Limestone Way footpath passes close by and there are many good routes for ramblers. For the more adventurous, Carsington Water, with its many activities, is only nine miles away, and Castleton, with its impressive caves is a scenic drive across the National Park. This Winster cottage is an excellent base for a wonderful Peak District holiday, all year round.

Winster is a bustling village resting within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park, just 4.5 miles away from Matlock. Within the village you will find a charming 17th century market house and the three main streets of Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’. 1 the bathroom fan was very random when it came on and was on for a full 24 hours at one point 2 the radiator in the main lounge doesn’t get hot. I tried ringing the numbers listed for assistance and could not get hold of anyone.

I think it might have been a housekeeping error but there was no toilet paper when we arrived. We arrived after the local shop closed, so we had to drive to the Coop in Darley Dale to stock up. Other things such as biscuits, milk etc. were provided so hopefully just an oversight.

Very clean and comfortable, containing everything needed. As we lucked in on a sunny weekend a small courtyard or garden would have been ideal. Found parking at the top of the road which was great exercise!
