Snaptrip says

The Hollies in Bamburgh is a well-received cottage, praised for its cleanliness, prime location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy atmosphere, and proximity to local amenities and the beach. The property's spaciousness and the welcoming garden are also highlights. While there are some mentions of maintenance issues, the overall experience is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found The Hollies to be very clean, with fresh sheets and tidy rooms. One mention of someone else's laundry in the washing machine suggests a minor oversight, but overall, the property maintains high standards of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its convenience, being close to the beach, castle, and local eateries. Its central yet quiet positioning in Bamburgh makes it an ideal spot for visitors looking to explore the area.

Guests describe the property as warm, comfortable, and cosy, with ample space and comfy beds. However, one review mentioned an uncomfortable mattress and another noted the house was cold upon arrival, slightly affecting the comfort score.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and sufficient hot water. Some maintenance issues like a non-working radiator and a fridge that freezes food have been reported, indicating room for improvement.

While guests mention the provision of tea and coffee, there are no consistent references to gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category. It should be noted that while some guests suggested improvements, such as a full log basket or milk, these are not guaranteed amenities.

About this property

With a simply perfect location in the centre of the bustling village of Bamburgh in Northumberland, The Hollies offers spacious and well-presented accommodation, ideal for a family on holiday. The ground-floor offers plenty of space for the whole family to either gather together and socialise or to separate and chill out – the choice is yours! The sitting room is warm and welcoming with a woodburning stove offering a gorgeous focal point to the space. A great alternative space for chilling out is the cosy snug which is just as inviting. The good-sized kitchen comes fully equipped with everything needed to produce delicious food for the whole family and the separate dining area helps to create a really sociable vibe to the room and you can imagine many hours spent here enjoying long, leisurely meals together and catching up on holiday news. Double patio doors open up from here onto the attractive garden and patio area where, if the weather allows, everyone can enjoy time outside eating, drinking and just being. When it’s time for bed, guests can make their way to the first-floor, where there is a choice of four bedrooms; a master with a double and en-suite facilities, another double, a twin and a single. All the bedrooms are beautifully presented and offer a calming sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of holiday life. After a refreshing night’s sleep and a quick shower or soak in the bath, you’re ready to go and explore the delights of Northumberland. Bamburgh is right on the doorstep and has a good selection of shops and amenities as well as the castle which you can see from the house. Head off from here and carry on along the Heritage Coastline where you will find miles of sandy beaches, quaint fishing villages and breath-takingly beautiful castles. Other towns worth visiting in the region include Alnwick, Seahouses (just a few miles away) and you can even head to the border and visit the ever-popular town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Activities to look forward to in the area include golf, sailing (from Seahouses to the Farne Islands), birdwatching, hiking, cycle rides and horse-riding. The Hollies offers families a delightful home-from-home where truly memorable holidays are created.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

The location could not be more perfect (directly behind the Victoria Hotel), but beyond that it was well appointed, clean, and cosy. We used the open fire regularly (it was February!) and it easily accommodated the seven of us who spent four nights there (plus our dog). Ross and Ceri were attentive and thoughtful hosts and we would love to return.

Very close to all the lovely pubs and the beach. TV with access to most channels was a bonus. Front garden was very pleasant to sit in for any afternoon sun.

Enclosed garden and yard both perfect for dog/children/drying off wetsuits etc. Hope to be back. Thank you
