Snaptrip says

Swallow Cottage is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and idyllic location, making it a popular choice for those seeking a peaceful retreat. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, enclosed garden, and the warm welcome from the owners. Despite some minor maintenance issues and mixed feedback on the hot tub, the cottage's charm and the surrounding area's attractions contribute to a delightful stay.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage receives consistent commendation for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting its spotless condition and the tidy environment. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness maintained by the owners.

The location is frequently described as great, with its proximity to local attractions like Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District. The peaceful setting and easy access to Brampton add to its appeal, although one review mentioned a desire for more powerful showers.

Comfort is a strong point for Swallow Cottage, with guests finding the beds super comfy and the log burner adding a cosy touch. The large garden is also a hit, especially for pet owners. However, a few guests noted issues with hot water pressure and seating outside.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-stocked kitchen and ample parking. However, there are comments about the need for maintenance, particularly regarding the hot tub and some in-cottage amenities. This suggests room for improvement in this area.

While the reviews reflect a positive experience with the owners' hospitality, there is insufficient information to assess the consistency of thoughtful gestures such as welcome gifts. Therefore, a score cannot be provided, and guests should not expect such amenities as standard.

About this property

A charming, stone-built, semi-detached cottage on the owner’s working farm in the rural hamlet of Milton, two miles from the Cumbrian market town of Brampton. This Milton cottage has been thoughtfully converted from former farm buildings to create a tasteful, holiday cottage retreat. The open plan living accommodation at this Milton cottage is light and airy with floor-to-ceiling windows on the front and side elevations, and a French door giving access to a charming patio and lawned area, both in a perfect position for catching the sun and relaxing. On chillier nights, stoke up the woodburner, curl up and watch the stars from the windows whilst those who enjoy the cooking can rustle up a tasty treat in the kitchen behind. This Milton cottage is ideal for a small family or a couple, with a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a twin with family bathroom, which has a bath with a shower over. This Milton cottage is perfectly positioned for visiting the Scottish Borders, Northern Lakes and Pennines and the magnificent, historic Hadrian's Wall. This lovely Milton cottage is set in the perfect rural location for your Cumbrian break. Note: This cottage is next to Refs. 3738, 3739, 4585, 922499, 931769 and 941220, 949797,together they sleep 30.

Ideally placed for exploring northern Cumbria, the hamlet of Milton is close to all of the region's most popular attractions including Hadrians Wall, the Solway Firth coast and the Lake District National Park. The nearby market town of Brampton dates back to the Roman occupation, and shows evidence of attacks from Scottish border raiders and Jacobite uprisings. Apparently, the Scottish Bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton, now a shop. Just a few miles away is Talkin Tarn Country Park, covering 180 acres - 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Slightly further south is Gelt Woods, an ancient forest along the banks of the River Gelt.

The very clean and comfortable cottage is in a great location for exploring Cumbria and Northumberland. The owner was great at responding when we had a small issue and sorted everything straight away. We would definitely stay here again.

Even though it is on a working farm we were never disturbed by noise. The cottage was very clean with everything in full working order. A lovely large private garden for our dog to enjoy. The owners are lovely people, always willing to stop for a chat. Would definitely recommend this property.
