With a market charter issued in 1203, Hartington, which is located in the Dove Valley of the Peak District National Park, was a significant market town in the Middle Ages. The ever-popular village now has charming tea rooms, a cheese shop, antique shops, local taverns, and a beautiful market square where the stone-carved village pump, which was once a crucial supply of water for the residents, still stands on the green. Local ales made at the Leatherbritches Brewery in Fenny Bentley and Whim Ales in Hartington are available in the neighbourhood bars. Around a mile and a half from the hamlet, the former Hartington railway station has been transformed into a picnic spot, and the converted track is known as the Tissington Trail and is well-liked by both hikers and bikers. A magnificent area with oddly shaped cliffs and rocks, Beresford Dale, may be explored on foot from Hartington. Alton Towers is conveniently located, and both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall can be reached within a 20-minute drive.

Extremely well equipped, comfortable and well maintained. A great outlook and location very close to the centre of Hartington. It’s one of the best places we’ve ever stayed in and couldn’t fault it. Would highly recommend.

Owners could not have been more helpful with a couple of little glitches we had. This house is without a doubt the best Sykes property we have ever stayed in, and we've been holidaying with Sykes for 20 years plus.

Although we didn't meet the owners, they were very helpful in their email contact. An excellent welcome pack
