Readers Retreat is a spacious open plan ground floor wing of a lovely rural Kent farmhouse, set in extensive grounds and surrounded by lovely countryside. The property sleeps 2, offering a super king-size bed which can be split into twin beds if required. The property has been comfortably furnished and offers stylish relaxing interiors and wonderful external views. There is a local farm shop and cafe 1 mile along the road and also a country pub. Tenterden is 2 miles away and offers a wide range of shopping, 2 supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and pubs. There are many National Trust properties locally and vineyards offering tours and tastings. Tenterden is the home to the Kent and East Sussex Railway and there are fishing lakes and golf course within an easy drive. Rye and the Romney Marsh are on your doorstep, making it a perfect property for relaxing in or exploring the surrounding countryside and coastline.

This was a return visit for us having stayed in 2011, and it felt like coming home! The property is spotless and has everything you require, in a quiet, beautiful and peaceful setting. It is wonderful to be able to listen to and observe the birds....woodpeckers, great tits, pheasant etc...and the squirrel trying to steal the nuts! Readers Retreat is ideally situated to visit many interesting places...Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle and many vineyards to name a few. Tenterden is a 40 min walk across the fields if you wish and is an interesting well equipped friendly town with good shops and restaurants.There is also an excellent farm shop with café just up the road. We thoroughly enjoyed revisiting places and finding new ones. It was also good to see Amanda again and catch up on news, we shouldn’t leave it so long next time! We highly recommend Readers Retreat.

My daughter and I stayed at Readers Retreat for a week and had a great time! The Cottage was immaculately clean and super comfortable. The location was perfect for us; pictureque and quiet. We spent a lot of time visiting family by the coast, which was an easy drive. It was so nice to return in the evenings to the cottage, which was a sanctuary of tranquility after a day with my nieces! I would definitely recommend Readers Retreat and would love to stay there again.
