About this property

Around a working farmyard at the end of a farm drive 1½ miles from St Giles on the Heath is this detached cottage. Beautifully converted from a barn, the accommodation combines modern style with country features such as natural wood and slate and beams, making a great traditional base for families or friends. The hall with practical slate floor leads to the sitting room with stable doors to throw open on the garden. The kitchen is smartly equipped with a comfortable dining area. Head on upstairs to your three comfortable bedrooms sharing a family bathroom. The garden behind the cottage is safely enclosed with a sunny terrace with outdoor furniture, and you are welcome to wander the extensive pretty woodland at the end of the farm drive. Enjoy walking this spectacular rolling countryside or head to Roadford Lake for more walks, cycle rides and a great range of water sports. With the location on the border between Devon and Cornwall, this is an excellent location for exploring the area, including Dartmoor and beaches on the North Cornwall coast. Orchard Barn is a smashing base for experiencing traditional farm life and getting out and about.

The owners were welcoming and friendly, we loved watching the lambs each day, bouncing around in the fields. The cottage is warm, clean and very well equipped, it had everything we needed. We really appreciated the welcome gifts on arrival. It is well positioned for days out in both Devon and Cornwall. We would definitely recommend a stay at Orchard Barn.

April was terrible weather this year. But inside Orchard Barn we were in our own little paradise. Very well equipped and warm. The Barn is in a remote location, which again was perfect for us. Nice and quiet and rural. The velux roof windows let in plenty of light, but also had their own shades for night time. 2 bathrooms. One with a bath, one with a nice powerful and warm shower. Very easy to explore Cornwall and Devon from here. And the hosts are very warm and welcoming. Well recommended.

Very quiet, well equipped, beautifully clean and the enclosed sunny garden dog friendly. The welcome pack and a vase of fresh flowers was a lovely addition. We really enjoyed staying at Orchard Barn and will certainly return next time we are in Devon.
