Snaptrip says

Kingfisher Cottage in Cornwall receives high praise for its comfort, cleanliness, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy atmosphere, and proximity to local attractions and amenities. The communal garden and nearby pub add to the charm, though some guests note the property can be a bit small for larger parties and the double bed may be snug for taller individuals. Overall, the cottage is well-regarded as a delightful base for exploring Cornwall.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests report the cottage as very clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments about minor cleanliness issues. The positive remarks far outweigh the negatives, indicating a high standard of cleanliness overall.

The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, with easy access to local towns, beaches, and attractions such as the Camel Trail. The proximity to a pub with good food is also noted, although one review mentioned potential noise concerns.

Guests find the beds warm and comfortable, and the cottage cosy, especially with the wood burning stove. However, some guests mention that the double bed is small for taller individuals and the second bedroom may be more suited for children.

Facilities are generally well-received, with mentions of good kitchen utensils, a Nespresso machine, and a comfortable communal garden. Some guests, however, have pointed out that certain aspects, such as the power shower and oven, could be improved.

Several reviews appreciate the thoughtful touches like the provision of tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits. While these gifts enhance the experience, it is important to note that such extras, while delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

In the little hamlet of Edmonton, around a neat courtyard with cottages on three sides and a good food pub the pub on the fourth is Kingfisher Cottage. From the front door you enter into a slate floored open plan living area, with a handsome stone fireplace and a wood/coal burning stove. On the first floor are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, with fresh-coloured fabrics and glimpses of the Camel estuary, Padstow and the sea beyond. At the back, is an open lawned area, shared with neighbouring cottages. The lively market town of Wadebridge has plenty of good shops, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. The popular seaside town of Padstow is a real favourite for foodies, and for fun in the sun then head for the splendid Trevose peninsula beaches.

The bustling market town of Wadebridge is perfectly placed alongside the ebb and flow of the River Camel, an ideal location for exploring the natural beauty of North Cornwall.

The location was very convenient for exploring the area and close to amenities. The cottage itself was spacious and comfortable. It was well kitted out and very clean. Would definitely recommend!

The weather & coastal path walking has been stunning. Edmonton is a really good base for exploring this part of Cornwall. Regrettably, the award winning ‘Quarryman’s’ pub, close by, was closed for refurbishment for the majority of our stay. Unfortunately the log burner here seemed to be due a major service/ repair due to a faulty grate mechanism so that was disappointing. We visited in early January and the cottage was quite cold and we struggled to get warm. Otherwise we would highly recommend this location. If you’re looking for a special meal out you’d struggle to beat ‘The Mariner’s’ at Rock. The Cornish Arms pub in St Merryn is also well worth a visit. ◦
