Snaptrip says

The Retreat in Devon is a well-received cottage, praised for its comfort, high-quality furnishings, and thoughtful touches like milk and tea on arrival. Its location is ideal for exploring South Devon, with easy access to nearby towns and attractions. While some guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the overall sentiment is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Cleanliness received mixed feedback. While some guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, others reported issues with rubbish, dog hair, and unclean kitchenware, suggesting inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The location is highly regarded, with the cottage being in a friendly village, close to Totnes, Dartmouth, and other attractions. However, some guests noted the lack of nearby dog walking spots and the distance to the nearest pub.

Guests found the cottage cosy and comfortable overall, though some mentioned the beds were hard and the garden lacked sunlight. The lounge and TV with Netflix were appreciated comforts.

Facilities are generally well-equipped, with a special mention of the kitchen's utensils. However, there were comments about limited storage space, a small fridge, and a slow shower, indicating room for improvement.

Thoughtfulness is evident with mentions of a warm welcome, including milk and tea provided on arrival. However, as gifts are not consistently mentioned, they should not be expected by future guests.

Clean and Well equipped.Perfect for a family of 4 with young kids. Plenty to do in nearby surroundings. Like visiting the Deynes Farm for coffee and cake. South Devon is beautiful with great beaches and funky villages like Ashburton and Totnes to visit. And Dartmoor is amazing for walks. We will be back, thanks for the great stay!

Shop in post office and one in the garage, nearest pub two and a half miles away, which is walkable down the narrow country roads. Totnes and Dartmouth within easy reach by car both have larger supermarkets. Cottage is really nice would definitely stay there again.

My only slight gripe is that the courtyard garden was in constant shade, though that may have been because it was March and the sun was still low. A shame as we had such good weather. Otherwise excellent.
