About this property

Anvil is a pretty house on the popular residential Maltings development, built on the site of the old Devenish brewery. A well-equipped holiday home carefully updated by the owners. With cosy living room, and kitchen breakfast room, just perfect for those lazy holiday days. Sunny patio area in the enclosed rear garden, the ideal location for relaxing with a drink and catching the last of the days sun after a busy day exploring. Located within a three-minute walk of Newton's Cove, brilliant rock pools and beautiful views as far reaching as Lulworth and Portland. Follow the coastal path that leads round to the Nothe Gardens and the Nothe Fort. Alternatively, a five-minute walk takes you to Brewers Quay and the beautiful harbour. Here you can explore all the various shops and sample the succulent food which is offered from the harbourside restaurants and of course traditional fish and chips! Take a leisurely stroll around the harbour to Weymouth’s award-winning beach with its golden sands, shallow waters and traditional seaside vibe. Adjacent to the harbour is the town centre with high street names and individual shops, 9 screen cinema. Ideal for a family of a small group of friends to holiday together.

This thriving area called Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated right at the very heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. Now a popular destination with many restaurant’s café and bars making it a vibrant location where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked in the harbourside streets here you will find original Tudor harbour buildings estimated to have built 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible facts and artefacts, there is more to this seaside town than meets the eye. The harbour is home to the lifting bridge where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge into the town with it’s winding streets of boutique shops and onto the seafront Esplanade and beach. Brewers Quay is a much loved location in Weymouth.

There was everything and more than we needed to make our stay comfortable, so close to the sea and so close to public transport that we used buses and trains to get around, only used our car a couple of times!! Would highly recommend Anvil House

Car parking was a bonus and we used public transport to visit Dorchester, Bridport, Portland, Poole and of course we enjoyed the many walks around Weymouth.

The property really requires an outdoor washing line as the small airing racks provided are inadequate for drying swimwear, swim towels, wet raincoats and over-trousers etc. The racks are too small and unstable to use outdoors and the tumble drier is inappropriate for such items. Apart from this significant problem, the property is comfortable and well equipped. The 'Happy Hamper' and pint of milk received on arrival were lovely. Thank you. The team at Dream Cottages were very quick to sort out the rapidly dripping kitchen tap that we reported on arrival.
