The location is praised for its peacefulness and proximity to local amenities and attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the Scottish Borders.

Despite being a hub for rural operations since the 11th century, Swinton's village layout as it is known today dates back to the 18th century. The town of Coldstream, which is located on the banks of one of the top salmon rivers in the nation, is only 5 miles to the north of this location. Duns, which used to be the region's largest town and is located 7 miles away, is rich in history. We love the area. The house is cosy & comfortable, very peaceful & the garden is perfect for our dogs, who spent every evening sleeping by the wood burner. We’ve already booked the same week next year. Amanda was a great host, always at the end of the phone for any queries, friendly & approachable.

Very secure for dogs and children, garden spacious and on a nice day very enjoyable. We saw a review of the cottage before we went saying the heaters were inadequate, we do not agree with this at all. There is no heating in the hall and kitchen so if you keep the doors closed it actually gets warm and cozy, we had mixed weather and never needed to use the fire, the heaters were enough. The owner has tried to give you everything you could need, extra blankets, electric blankets on beds, starter pack for the fire etc. We would quite happily stay at Charlies cottage again in the future.

It has a big enclosed garden which was perfect for our dog. The town has a lovely Hotel and pub close by and lots of things to do around the area like visiting castles, walks to old settlements and even Jim Clark's motorsport museum.
