Calf Close Cottage is a charming single-storey semi-detached cottage set in the rural grounds of a 6-acre smallholding. Both eco-friendly and dog-friendly the cottage has been converted from its former use as a milking barn, with great care and attention to detail. The gentle ramp to the doorway makes the cottage wheelchair-accessible.

Situated in the rural village of Farlam guests will enjoy the peaceful Cumbrian countryside, yet only a 30-minute drive to the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders making it a great base from which to explore. There are also walks and cycle routes from the door of the cottage over the fells and through woodland areas or around nearby Talkin Tarn with watersports available.

Whether you want to spend your days in front of the wood burning stove with a book or enjoy the beautiful scenery and great outdoors over the Cumbrian fells, Calf Close Cottage provides warm and cosy accommodation to return to. As you enter this charming property, the hallway with plenty of space for your outdoor gear is right in front of you. To the left of the hallway is a lovely and bright open-plan living area, with oak flooring throughout.

The Kitchen complete with an oven and electric hob cooker, microwave, dishwasher and a wide selection of cooking equipment and utensils to make for an easy and pleasurable cooking experience; the dining area with a pine table and four chairs and the sitting area with comfortable leather sofas, coffee table, flat screen TV and DVD player, a stereo system and a Bluetooth speaker, and, of course, the wood burning stove (a starter supply of wood is provided, with the option to purchase more if you wish.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. There are high stools at the breakfast counter in the kitchen area to make for a more sociable cooking sessions and a soft armchair to sink in to with a good book. A washer/dryer is fitted in the kitchen and a full-size fridge/freezer is located in the hallway.

To the right of the hallway is the double bedroom with the most comfortable super-king bed (which can be converted into twins upon request) and the en-suite bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. Towels and bed linen are provided.

The enclosed cottage garden is right in front of you as you enter and is accessible through the back door. To the left of the cottage is a mown pasture which houses the chicken shed and enclosure. Beyond it is the owners vegetable and fruit gardens, the orchard which was planted in 2005 and Boon Hill Wood planted at the turn of this century.

Guests are greeted on arrival by the owner, with a welcome gift of eggs and homemade jam. Additionally, in season, if there is enough for sharing, you will also be offered homegrown fruit or veg.

Calf Close Cottage is pet-friendly and permits one well behaved dog at no extra charge.

The market town of Brampton (3 miles away) offers a Co-op, a couple of butchers, a bakery and a selection of pubs, coffee/sandwich shops, takeaways and sit down eateries.

There is a number of lovely country pubs nearby, offering good food and real ale along with the customary choice of tipple. The local Pub (1 mile away) is Blackssmith's Arms in Talkin, which serves nice home cooked meals and has 3 – 4 real ales on a regular basis. The Belted Will in Hallbankgate (2 miles away) is another good option for both food and drink. Hallbankgate Hub located in the village of Hallbankgate opposite The Belted Will is a good place for a cup of coffee and a cake as well as for some basic essentials.

Carlisle is only 10 miles away and affords plenty of choice on culinary and imbibing fronts.
