About this property

Formerly part of Holkham Estate's accommodation in Burnham Norton, Goldfinch Cottage is a beautiful and romantic hideaway, perfect for a couple or a solo traveller. Thoughtfully transformed into a delightful oasis of calm, the cottage retains much of its rural charm. Walkers, cyclists, sailors, birdwatchers and foodies will love the location of this fantastic little find.

Goldfinch is a charming mid-terrace cottage, equipped with everything guests need to make the most of a holiday in this wonderful part of North West Norfolk, at any time of year. Quaint in size and thoughtfully curated to make clever use of available space, the cottage has been decorated in a muted colour palette, and comfortably furnished in a fresh and contemporary style. The open-plan light and airy living environment on the ground floor features a charming wood burning stove which adds extra warmth and ambient light during cooler times. Nestle into the sofa after a day spent exploring, or share in a home-cooked meal at the dining table, made using the local produce available from the surrounding area. With modern appliances and plenty of worktop space in the kitchen, rustling up a feast will be hard to resist. Upstairs, the pretty bedroom exudes charm with painted brick feature walls and views across the marshes to Burnham Overy Windmill beyond. A sumptuous king size bed dressed in fine white linens invites deep restorative sleep. A bath with shower over features in the good-sized bathroom. Outside, the seating on the south-facing patio area enjoys the sunshine - perfect for firing up the barbecue. There is allocated parking for two cars in the shared parking area.

Made up of pretty flint cottages, Burnham Norton is a hamlet made up of quintessential Norfolk cottages tucked away down a quiet lane off the main coast road. Nestled on the edge of Norton Marsh, this area is rich in birdlife and wildlife. With no shop or pub in the village, Burnham Norton is a secluded paradise. Plenty of activities and amenities are found in the neighbouring villages, so just pull on your boots, grab your binoculars, and stretch your legs. Just a 40-minute walk across the fields and marshes, deserted Norton Beach is waiting to be discovered.

This is the fourth time we have stayed in Goldfinch, it is very cosy but its main positive is the location so close to the marshes and coastline.
